Child died under suspicious circumstances in East Anchorage, police say

A girl died Wednesday night under what police say are “suspicious” circumstances.

Police and firefighters were called to a home in the 3200 block of Penland Parkway around 8:15 p.m. because a girl was not breathing, according to an online alert.

The girl died despite attempts to revive her by officers and firefighters, according to the alert.

The girl’s name will be released pending next of kin notification, police said.

Her cause of death is under investigation, but police believe it was “suspicious in nature,” the alert said. Homicide detectives and the Crime Scene Team were investigating and multiple people have been questioned by police.
