Anchorage shooting sends man to hospital

A shooting Friday afternoon sent a man to the hospital, Anchorage police said in an online alert.

Around 3 p.m., dispatchers received a report of shots fired in the 3100 block of West 31st Avenue, in the Turnagain area, according to Anchorage police.

Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to his upper body, police said, and he was taken to the hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening. Police said the shooting occurred at a different location.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the shooting and asked anyone with information about the incident, including surveillance footage, to call police dispatch at 311.
