Woman wounded, suspects sought in Fairbanks shooting

Fairbanks police continued to look for two suspects Wednesday evening in a shooting that injured one woman, authorities said.

Amber Courtney, a spokeswoman for Fairbanks Mayor John Eberhart's office, said police believed that the shooting, reported at about 11 a.m. in south Fairbanks, was targeted.

The woman taken to the hospital was "expected to fully recover," she said.

Earlier Wednesday, police had set up a perimeter around the 900 blocks of 21st, 22nd and 23rd avenues to search for the two suspects seen running away after the shooting.

At about 1 p.m., Courtney said people could return to the area. "We no longer believe they're on foot," she said of the suspects.

Courtney described the two suspects as black men. One wore a beanie and the other a black hooded sweatshirt, she said. She said she had no further description.
