This weekend in Anchorage: Holiday shows hit a high note plus the annual Solstice Tree Tour

After more than a week of snowfall, Anchorage residents might be ready for some relaxation and entertainment this weekend. If holiday shows and celebrations are your thing, there are plenty of options. If you’re not feeling the entertainment, join in the annual Solstice Tree Tour at Kincaid Park.

An Alaskan Holiday and Excerpts from ‘The Nutcracker: 6 p.m. Friday/Saturday, Discovery Theatre, 621 W. Sixth Ave.

Alaska Dance Theatre is hosting these shows filled with holiday-themed performances and excerpts from “The Nutcracker.” Tickets start at $25.

White Christmas’ Sing Along: Noon Saturday/Sunday, Bear Tooth Theatrepub, 1230 W. 27th Ave.

The Anchorage Opera Overture Council presents a sing-along version of this classic holiday film with Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Rosemary Clooney. Tickets are $8.50.

Family Holiday Pops: 4 p.m. Sunday, Atwood Concert Hall, 621 W. Sixth Ave.

Featuring 200 local singers and musicians, this holiday musical event should be fun for the entire family. Tickets start at $31.

Solstice Tree Tour: 4 p.m. Sunday, Kincaid Park, 9401 Raspberry Road

This Anchorage winter tradition is free to skiers and nonskiers and celebrates winter solstice, holiday trees and outdoor fun for young and old.

Cirque de Hanukkah: 5 p.m. Sunday, Egan Center, 555 W. Fifth Ave.

The Alaska Jewish Campus & Museum is hosting this family festival, which includes the “Chicago Boyz” acrobatic team plus plenty of crafts, games and activities for all ages. Tickets are $15.
