Windows are boarded up after they were smashed early New Year's Day in a portable classroom on Monday morning, January 4, 2016, at Taku Elementary School. Three portables were vandalized, losing 12 windows in two early-morning attacks. Windows at Rabbit Creek Elementary School were also broken. Last May, Taku suffered a fire on its playground, also attributed to vandalism.
Anchorage School District officials released these photos of windows broken by thrown rocks at relocatable buildings near Taku and Rabbit Creek elementary schools during the New Year's holiday. Vandals were seen on surveillance video at Taku Elementary in the early hours of Jan. 1, 2016, and district officials believe the Rabbit Creek Elementary windows were broken on the weekend of Jan. 2-3.
