For Chris McDaniel, the Mississippi election's not over yet

Remember that Mississippi Republican Senate race, the one Sen. Thad Cochran won Tuesday? For challenger Chris McDaniel, it's not over yet.

Backers of McDaniel, who lost with 49.1 percent of the vote and has not yet conceded, are looking at ballots for irregularities.

The Jackson Clarion-Ledger reports a preliminary examination of ballots has found irregularities in at least 800 ballots, according to tea party officials. McDaniel had strong tea party backing.

The Clarion-Ledger noted quoted Mississippi Tea Party Chairwoman Laura Van Overschelde, who said, "Looking at the poll books, we found some evidence we are concerned about."

But, it added, Pete Perry, the Hinds County Republican Executive Committee chairman, said 200 votes were put in the wrong column and then corrected by poll workers at Fondren Presbyterian Church. There were also 75 to 80 similar votes corrected at Precinct 34.
