Letter: Stand together, Alaskans

I am an Alaskan who is furious about the state of our state. This governor is choosing to destroy our state, pretending we have no money. We have plenty of money, but we are giving it away. Our “budget crisis” would be easily solved if we stopped overpaying the oil companies. Alaska is a cash cow for ConocoPhillips, BP and Exxon. Their own reports show they are making more than $25 per barrel in Alaska. Compare that with their profits of $1.40 per barrel in Iraq. Why are we giving them so much money? No one is even mentioning the word oil. Our governor and legislators need to say where they stand. Are they loyal to the oil companies or to Alaskans?

Gov. Mike Dunleavy is determined to ruin Alaska with the help of Outside money. This same plan failed miserably in Indiana and Kansas. Alaskans need to stand together and demand to be treated fairly.
