Letter: Buyer’s remorse

Those who voted for Gov. Mike Dunleavy hoping to receive thousands of dollars in Permanent Fund dividends should be having second thoughts about their decision. Will the cuts to everyday services we all enjoy on a daily and, yes, yearly basis be offset by several thousands of dollars that can be spent in an evening of online shopping?

Certainly, some things need to be cut. With more study and a more thoughtful approach, we might be able to slowly cut some extras. There is no free ride, and if we are to continue to live and enjoy this state, then we need to ante up with either a statewide income tax or a sales tax. Do our legislators have the guts to enact that change? I hope so.
