Letter: Keep on learning

Thanks to M. J. Koskovich for his service in Vietnam, but his letter of Aug. 5 raises a question. Mr. Koskovich fought for his country, which is also my country, and my country stands for freedom and justice for all. His condemnation of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Presley and Rashida Tlaib, the “Squad,” suggests they all “despise all that is good about this amazing country.”

First, Mr. Koskovich fought for their freedom, and second, these four elected members of the United States House of Representatives are trying to move this big, successful, heavy country of ours toward renewable resources and away from Earth-endangering fossil fuels.

We won’t save our country by insulting each other. We injure our country whenever we allow anger and hate to rise up out of those places we all have access to. Let’s keep on arguing, and keep on learning from each other.
