Letter: The status quo

In the article about the University of Alaska’s proposed cuts in the July 28 issue of the ADN, University of Alaska Southeast Chancellor Rick Caulfield said, “I really question having the executive branch inserting themselves into the areas that have been the purview of the Board of Regents over all of these years.”

According to university salary information, the three chancellors’ salary and benefit packages range from $270,000 to $384,000 per year. Apparently 100 administrators receive salary and benefit packages higher than $175,000. Any wonder they do not want the governor’s office meddling with the status quo?
