Letter: Heartless decisions

What has happened to the basic human decency of caring for each other? I am referring to the governor of Alaska and state legislators who can cut funding for their own constituents in the name of “balancing the budget.”

The recent ADN article on the effects of cutting ferry service to Cordova for the winter, as well as a recent article on the outrageous increase in rent at the Pioneer Homes, are just two examples of the heartless decisions by those in power who can somehow justify budget cuts that pull the rug right out from under our fellow Alaskans. Turning over the lives of decent people in this manner is thoughtless and unconscionable.

The only “power” we concerned Alaskans have is to vote out those who have helped to make the terrible decisions.
