Letter: Quid pro quo

Quid pro quo. Let’s talk about that for a moment. Is there a legislator anywhere out there, at any level of government, that hasn’t used quid pro quo in dealing with others? Anyone? Anywhere? I don’t think you can honestly tell me you’ve never bargained with others to get what you want for your country, your state, your city, your party or yourself (if you’re at all honest).

And at the international level, hasn’t every president and every administration (on both sides of the aisle) use quid pro quo to get another country to do our bidding? Didn’t Vice President Joe Biden use quid pro quo with Ukraine a few years back? Exactly the same situation — do what I want or you don’t get the military aid? And then Joe bragged about it to the press. Different benefits, to be sure. President Donald Trump wanted Biden investigated, while Biden wanted a prosecutor fired so he wouldn’t possibly investigate Joe’s son Hunter’s company for corruption.

The point being both used quid pro quo in exactly the same way with the same country. My bottom line is this: Let’s apply the biblical injunction. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. If you’ve never used quid pro quo in any way, shape or form, go ahead and vote to impeach President Trump for using it.
