As an Alaska Marine Highway System tourist passenger, I am saddened to see the cancelled routes and decreasing service. This historical and necessary service is essential to daily life in the expanses of islands along the Inside Passage.
What kind of transportation or delivery service could replace the ferries? The deliveries we saw were beyond what could be carried by plane. I am so glad I got the ferry experience in Alaska. I would hope tourist dollars would be a consideration as the future of the ferry proceeds.
