Letters to the Editor

Letter: Worst-case scenario

Our worst fears have been realized. Thousands more people will be affected by the virus because our president will only take actions that he believes will help him personally. Instead of ramping up our response to the virus, he and his minions minimized it at every turn so as not to affect the economy and stock market. We had two months to prepare our country with testing kits and a plan of action. Instead, we had a president who was against letting people off a cruise ship because “it will hurt my numbers.” Could he be any more obtuse?

And now our congressional delegation and all of the Republicans in Congress, who failed to take a stand when he colluded with Russia and delayed the arms deal with Ukraine, are complicit in where he has taken our country. If a few more senators had shown the courage that Sen. Mitt Romney displayed in the impeachment vote, we would not be in the mess we are in. I am no fan of Mike Pence, but with Donald Trump out of the way, he would have listened to the medical experts, and taken appropriate actions that would have greatly decreased the impact on our country.
