Letter: We’re failing our soldiers

Anyone who is in the health care business or who might ever need the services of health care workers, police, firemen and EMTs should understand that those workers are, in essence, going to war without bullets.

Our country has, in recent years, equipped the military to fight battles and protect our country and others. One look at the defense budget year after year would confirm that. And yet, we have a battle raging in our country, on nearly every street, in every state, and the government that was elected to protect and serve has failed to equip those who are waging war on the novel coronavirus.

All those who believe this is a hoax, that it is just the flu, should talk to someone who is on the battlefield and ask how they feel about putting themselves and their families at risk, day after day, while they look to the federal government to take action to produce more ventilators, PPE necessities, gloves, and masks. The federal government is failing these “soldiers.” Elections matter.
