Letter: Where’s the PPE?

Reading the recent ADN editorial and also the joint congressional statement on the COVID-19 pandemic, I am sorely disappointed to find no mention of the inadequate supply of personal protective to protect first responders and those in the medical community.

PPE protects front-line workers and will decrease spread of the disease. This need, as well as the need for ventilators, is a national problem, and while it’s great that folks are sewing cloth masks and finding N95s in their garages and donating these, where is the federal response? What about the Defense Production Act? If this is not a national emergency, what is?
