Letters to the Editor

Letter: PFD vs. services

With regard to the letter from Tina Delapp about the “Permanent Fund purpose,” I agree with and support the proposition that the Permanent Fund was created to “fund state government functions when oil revenues declined and were no longer available to fund such activities.” That time has apparently arrived.

We can continue dividends for as long as there are Permanent Fund earnings. However, having PFD payments is not essential, but funding the necessary functions of state government is.
