Letter: Don’t eliminate travel quarantine

Why is Gov. Mike Dunleavy eliminating required self-quarantine measures for persons entering Alaska? Alaska kept its COVID-19 numbers lowest in the country because we were encouraged to follow the rules of self-quarantine. Voluntary quarantine means we will be increasingly exposed to the virus.

Gov. Dunleavy and Dr. Anne Zink prove that taking appropriate precautions work. We have 10 deaths to the virus to date. Because some people believe masks and quarantine are unnecessary, by eliminating the required 14 day quarantine period, Gov. Dunleavy opens Alaska to increased disease and more dead.

Simple cloth masks do not save those who wear them from non-symptomatic maskless virus carriers — although my mask does prevent the bare-faced from catching COVID-19 from symptomless me.
