Letter: Make distance education plans

If the Anchorage School District is planning on reopening classrooms this fall, then how are they going to practice social distancing? The Board of Education will have to open up a lot more classrooms and hire double or triple the amount of classroom teachers. Last fall, during Gov. Mike Dunleavy's town hall meeting, I heard a teacher complain the widespread huge class sizes. He himself reported 42 students in an algebra class! And this is the situation before the appearance of the coronavirus.

Quite obviously, the School Board should not reopen schools in the fall without healthy social distancing. No reasonable person would risk exposing children and their homes to the coronavirus. Why not tell the real situation to the people of Anchorage now, so that they can make plans? Time is short.
