Letter: COVID-19 recognition

Reflecting on the July 4 weekend, I would like to recognize the frontline health care professionals across America that worked tirelessly over a holiday to provide compassionate care and safeguard the health of Americans.

On the local level, a special gratitude to the testers at the Lake Otis Boulevard COVID-19 testing site who spent a warm, sunny Anchorage weekend, covered in hot personal protective equipment, testing members of our community to contain the spread of this virus.

Thank you, Mayor Ethan Berkowitz and Chief Medical Officer Anne Zink, for providing respectful leadership based on data and science. Anchorage residents, do your part, wear a mask and be kind to your neighbors, maintaining an appropriate social distance.
