Letter: Report the facts

Letter-writer Luke Joseph stated that “Trump is trying to keep America together,” and “uplift(ing) our nation and people.” Seriously? By any standard of objective truth and empirical reality, Trump is one of the most divisive U.S. Presidents ever. Divide and conquer is the sine qua non of his election strategy. If the ADN prints negativity about Trump it’s because, factually, he is an inept, ignorant, lying, corrupt, narcissistic, vindictive buffoon. There is overwhelming evidence supporting all the adjectives in the above sentence, Those of us who pay attention are scratching our heads, wondering how a President can be so out of step with established norms and reality.

Unfortunately, there appear to be too many Americans conned by falsehoods, who live in a fantasy world of misinformation, where telling the truth about Trump is an indication of being "biased, opinionated, one-sided news." Facts matter. People are entitled to their own opinions, not their own facts.

Many of the founding fathers believed that you can not have a functioning democracy without an aware, informed electorate. Thank you, ADN, for supporting democracy by trying to fairly and truthfully report the news.
