Letters to the Editor

Letter: Thanks for alternate perspective

Thank you for posting the recent commentary from former Mayor Dan Sullivan, on other options for the homeless in Anchorage.

I have been noticing the decisions coming from the Anchorage Assembly. I do understand they have a big responsibility to make the city work. I have been very concerned about the decisions coming out of their forum. Cell phone rules in school zones, under which police can fine you up to $500 without a single posting letting people know it is in effect. Talk about entrapment. Now the purchase of hotels for the homeless, that just made me mad. I don’t blame one person, I blame the whole Assembly for considering this at all.

I would like to take a moment to thank the person who stopped this mess in its tracks. It also feels like they are thinking they can sure the world’s problems , if only I would pay for it. They have gone blind.

The response given to Mr. Dan Coffey from the Assembly member is now what I expect from any communications with our Assembly.

What I read in the piece from former Mayor Dan Sullivan about better options to assist the homeless, these options made perfect sense to me. I hope in the near future, the Assembly considers his suggestions very seriously. New facts should inspire new decisions.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
