Letter: Trail conflicts

I was excited to read about the addition of hiking and biking trails to Chugach State Park. Recently while hiking, I was nearly run over on two different occasions by mountain bikers speeding down the South Rim trail. Neither had the grace to apologize for the danger they put me, my friend and a dog in.

When Chugach State Park upgraded that trail, they failed to consider the user conflicts created by making such a fast-flowing downhill trail. Thanks to Single Track Advocates for proposing a solution by creating a dedicated downhill trail that will link with the South Rim up trail. Until that trail is done, I hope all trail users will conduct themselves safely and courteously.
