Letter: Stand for something

I want to vote Republican. Really, I do. I love guns — own several, shoot them often. I like trucks. I drink beer. Heck, I even badger a few far-left friends about their stance on defending the police and illegal immigration — it is a real issue, after all.

But I can’t and won’t vote Republican this year for one simple reason: They don’t stand for anything. Nothing at all. What is there to get behind? A skyrocketing national debt? (Even before the pandemic.) Weaker labor laws? (Who needs to earn a living wage?) Are liberals really going to take my guns? (Hint: They’re not). As for law and order — well, I don’t remember any looting or riots under Barack Obama.
