Letter: Vote no on Ballot Measure 2

Paul Jenkins is absolutely right — thank you, sir. There is so much that is wrong with Ballot Measure 2 — 25 pages, single-spaced, 74 sections, with many issues — that the problems cannot be addressed in a single letter.

Alyse Galvin and Al Gross are campaigning as independents. The ballot that will be given to the voters correctly identifies them as “Democratic Party nominees.” Under Ballot Measure 2, a Marxist-socialist could state he was a conservative Republican to get elected, and that lie would appear on the ballot. A candidate could also choose to have no information appear on the ballot.

Second, the measure is being funded by millions of dollars from Houston and Denver. Why? It will harm or destroy political parties because they no longer have any meaningful input to elect the candidates whose policies they support. Once the political parties are marginalized, then the Outside interests can use their millions of dollars to support their own candidates, and will end up owning the Alaska Legislature.

The Outside interests are using “eliminate dark money” as the bait to get Alaskan voters on the hook to swallow the program they are trying to impose on us. Don’t bite.

Alaska’s elections work and are constitutional. Please vote no on Ballot Measure 2.
