Letter: Ditch Carney and Henderson

Judge Susan Carney and Judge Jennifer Henderson should not be retained in their current judicial capacities. Judge Carney, appointed by public thief No. 1, former Gov. Bill Walker, was complicit in reducing every Alaskan’s Permanent Fund dividend by her legal decision in favor of Walker’s grand theft scheme. Her decision directly affected the quality of life of every person in this state, particularly residents living in the Bush. Her comfort of living, buoyed by her salary line, is not comparable to Bush living, where the PFD amounts make huge differences in a resident’s quality of life.

Judge Henderson ruled that Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s veto for funds to the Alaska Court System, in the amount equal to Medicaid’s abortion payments, was unconstitutional. I must ask, why it is unconstitutional for the state of Alaska to withhold funding from organizations that destroy babies who have no choice in the irresponsible behavior of co-joining adults? My vote for retention of these two judges will be no.

Also, the state of Alaska Official Election Pamphlet needs to drop the judicial survey chart and include major or relevant decisions by these judges so we citizens know how to differentiate our choices. They are elected officials and we, the public, have a right to know how they ruled. Perhaps the state can maintain a review website, where citizens can identify the judge, analyze their decision and scrutinize their fitness to retain or reject.
