Letter: I was duped

I was duped! I’m disappointed and angry.

As a Never-Trump Republican, I donated in late May to the Lincoln Project, believing they worked nation-wide solely to defeat Trump. Later they began opposing any Senate Republican that didn’t vote to impeach Trump. They gave almost half a million dollars to Sen. Dan Sullivan’s opponent. I strongly support Sullivan. We have given his campaign as much as we’ve ever given any campaign.

I was duped. The Lincoln Project became a Never-Republican project rather than a Never-Trump project. So Outside dollars (and a few of mine) are funding the effort against retaining Sullivan. I was duped! How many others were?

Sullivan has worked diligently over years to help Alaskans: against domestic violence and sexual abuse, against ocean plastic waste, for reducing our nation’s dependence on China for strategic critical minerals, for a strong military, for vitally needed icebreakers, for responsible resource development.

I can find no public-spirited record of this sort for Al Gross. None, zilch, nada, zip. But with political naïveté and cocky self-assurance, he lies about Sullivan’s record, especially Pebble Mine. In fact, his lies remind me of someone else well-known for lying.

Don’t be duped. Please support the re-election of Sen. Sullivan.
