Letters to the Editor

Letter: Too much hypocrisy

I’ve finally gotten tired of all the hypocrisy I see in daily letters here regarding the presidency.

First, for all those complaining about selections to the Supreme Court, I’ll bet not one would have anything negative to say were Hillary Clinton in office and attempting to get her choice on the Court before the election.

Next, I doubt very many would be advocating higher taxes for the rich if they were among the very wealthy. I definitely am not, and would like to see a flat tax rate across the board for all. Why should someone be penalized for, in most cases, struggling through college to eventually earn top dollar?

Then, there’s a hypocrite named Joe Biden, who staunchly opposed spending any money to support President Lyndon Johnson’s effort to repatriate Vietnamese refugees, but then abruptly changed his stance with regard to those of the same plight in Afghanistan.

This same individual desires to increase your taxes to support, among other things, illegal immigrants. If you were born in this great country, I believe you should automatically be a U.S. citizen; otherwise, I wholeheartedly support our current president’s policy with regard to those here illegally. And, the current Census should be counting only U.S. citizens, which ensures our tax dollars are supporting each state based on that, although California, for one, will disagree.

By the way; so long as you vote, I will always respect your opinion, even if I disagree. If you don’t, you’re one who should never complain, regardless of what happens at the polls.
