We are a month past the November election and I, for one, am breathing easier. I am grateful for another functional exercise of democracy and almost as grateful for a respite from oversimplified sound bites that get louder toward the end of campaigns. School Board seats are elected citywide, and there will be three seats of the seven-member board up for election on the April 2021 ballot. Public school is vital at any time, but now everybody knows it is. The extended pandemic closure for most in-person education will magnify attention to the School Board races. As citizens, your voice will be better heard before the near-election din, and we can better vet the research and thinking of our candidates.
