Letter: School goals

Anchorage School District superintendent Deena Bishop this week announced plans to reopen schools. After three previous failed attempts, she now wants to do it in January.

That would be in the middle of a national emergency that U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Dr. Robert Redfield was referring to when he said: “The reality is, December and January and February are going to be rough times. I actually believe they’re going to be the most difficult in the public health history of this nation.”

It causes one to question whether Superintendent Bishop ever reads the news. Instead of devoting so much time to appeasing those who have no patience for this pandemic, perhaps it’s time for her to begin setting achievable goals to help ASD students through this crisis.
