Russia’s Vladimir Putin is smiling. He is enjoying this moment of seeing his efforts to influence America’s 2016 presidential election in favor of Donald Trump come to fruition.
His purpose four years ago was to help us elect a president who would instill chaos and discord to undermine our democracy. He has done so, and is pleased to see this president continue to hurt our nation with his baseless accusations of the 2020 election outcome and his refusal to accept his defeat. Just like in a banana republic.
And the obstructionist Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell fans the flames by refusing to even consider the proposal recommended by a joint committee of Senate moderates to enact much-needed COVID-19 relief. So, nothing gets done.
And Vladimir Putin keeps smiling.
