Letters to the Editor

Letter: End capital punishment

For one thing, executing a killer will not bring his victim back to life. Nor does the fear of execution deter crime.

Many imprisoned convicts were arrested as a minor, or targeted because of race or mental impairment. A prisoner may not have money for a decent lawyer.

In short, we can never be absolutely sure that an innocent prisoner is being wrongly executed.Hanging, firing squads, and beheadings are the awful stuff of movies and history. Death by injection is equally inhumane.

Many countries have ceased executing humans. I believe it’s time for America to follow their road.
