Letter: Day of infamy

Jan. 6, 2021, is a day that will indeed live in infamy. It will be a flashpoint in future elections when the lack of inaction of our elected officials will be remembered. Our senator, Dan Sullivan, has enabled our mentally ill president for four years. As a supplicant to Donald Trump, his complicity has supported President Trump’s condemnation of our troops, our veterans, and our national hereos — e.g., Sen. John McCain.

We need representatives who have the courage to stand up to threats to our Constitution and our country, and not solely concern themselves with their political party and how they might get reelected. It is critical that our legislative and executive branches have some degree of independence, but this has been more than threatened by the Republicans’ fear of the wrath of our unable president.
