Letter: Let’s mine our own resources

What constitutes the difference between the oil in Alaska, gold mining in Alaska, anything that has to do with Alaska resources? Why is Canada allowed to haul out millions in gold with impunity, yet we make such a big deal about what affects anything to do with oil?

If President Joe Biden tells oil and gas people to find other jobs, then why can’t the same people work the gold mines and the profits be taken by the state instead of Canada? I can’t imagine this is the case in Canada, allowing another country to mine their gold.

While we are at it, why aren’t there any articles about the arctic blasts and the brutal temperatures along the North Slope creating ice for the bears?
