Letters to the Editor

Letter: Silenced

My subscription renewal to the ADN is due soon and I believe, after nearly 40 years, I will let it lapse. I don’t fault the local journalists who adhere to the high principles of their art — the paper has certainly improved from the blatantly leftist Dispatch days — but a very visible curtain is descending upon on conservative thought in this country.

Virtually half of the electorate voted for Donald Trump. That is a fact. Yet their voices are being forcibly silenced and this, by definition, is fascism.

My voice is a small one, and if the ADN could print only local news, I would certainly support them, but as a student of history, I must do whatever I can to encourage honest dialogue and debate. The term “unity,” as it is currently being used, seems to mean that all people are equal in their subjugation to the state. I sincerely hope that reasonable minds will ultimately prevail, but for now I will bid farewell, ADN. It’s been a good run.
