Letter: Remembering the fallen

I watched the memorial service for Officer Brian Sicknick; it was a reminder of the sacrifice this officer gave to a senseless riot.

While viewing, I was able to quiet my heart to feel the grief. I felt it for his family and for all those who loved him. I felt it for the whole world. What a stark contrast to what took place at the capital riots. There voices were filled with anger, people lost control and lives were lost.

Violence invaded this sacred space. It was loud, chilling and frightening. In contrast, we had a memorial where one could hear a pin drop. People gathered to use their words, prayer and song to send Brian home. Every moment with clear intention, salutes, crossing of hearts, prayer, bowing and honoring.A pin dropped; my wish is that the world could hear it.
