Letter: Leave partisanship out of impeachment

As an independent, I view the immediate problem in restoring culpability and respect to our government lies not in Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s stance on Donald Trump’s impeachment, but Sen. Dan Sullivan’s stubborn belief that the act of impeachment is not constitutional.

Murkowski has a conscience, which, according to the framers of our Constitution is needed to prevent further erosion and dissolving of our democratic republic. Those that refuse to acknowledge this are nothing more than cowards. I wonder how Sen. Sullivan would vote if the acts that Trump has gotten away with were done by a Democrat. Leaving the party labels away and partisan blinding loyalty to a “king” and addressing the factual evidence is needed.
