Letter: Shame on legislators

The Alaska legislators in Juneau ran home for the weekend. Did no one tell them we’re in a pandemic? Even as new stronger-spreading variants are coming, they failed to extend Alaska’s COVID-19 state of emergency.

Now Alaskans lose free federal money, lose free food stamp assistance, lose mandatory COVID-19 screening at airports, lose quarantine assistance including for Anchorage’s and Alaska’s homeless who test positive, lose state emergency COVID-19 treatment centers, lose ability to ration vaccines for small towns and boroughs, and we lose more!

I’m so disgusted by legislators’ incompetence and by their selfish unconcern for the horrible, terrifying way Alaskans are dying because of COVID-19, as well as the pandemic misery wrought upon some of our Alaska families. Shame on them all. It’s time for term limits!
