Letter: Actual compassion

Gov. Mike Dunleavy recognizes the difficulty of life during a pandemic. The cost of living is out of reach for too many. Dunleavy supports a large Permanent Fund dividend handout in the name of compassion.

Imagine if instead, he and other politicians — in Alaska and beyond — supported a living wage, affordable health care, quality education from preschool through trade school or college. Imagine if families had enough to live on and save for a rainy day. Imagine financial independence and self-worth instead of an unpredictable, unsustainable cash handout.
