Letter: School board attendance

A recent letter to the editor stated that there are members of the Anchorage School Board who are attending the board meetings remotely. I could not imagine a school board which would require that teachers do their jobs with in-person contact in our schools and yet continue to do their own work from home.

At the local community council meeting last evening, I was able to inquire about this situation with a school board member. In her indignant response to my question, she reminded me that there is a pandemic going on and that remote attendance for school board meetings has the approval of the school board president.

Also at the meeting were several candidates for the upcoming school board elections. I wonder if any of those candidates would be requiring something of teachers that they would not be willing to do themselves.
