Poem: Spring Jealousy

My Facebook friends are full of joy

At what is blooming—boy, oh, boy—

The crocuses are bursting through,

The redbuds cast a dainty hue,

Forsythia brings a golden glow,

The daffodils make quite a show…

While we look out on fields of snow.

No calendar can claim to know

When spring will deign to say it rules

In Anchorage, where April fools.
