Letters to the Editor

Letter: Do your part for others

For those who do not want to get vaccinated and those who are not sure: Take a look at your shoulder. For those born before 1972, you should see a small round scar about an inch in diameter. That is your smallpox vaccination scar. I say before 1972, as that is when it was discontinued in the U.S., because it was eradicated.

If everyone got vaccinated for COVID-19, then there is a good chance we could do the same thing as the Centers for Disease Control did for smallpox. There were some complications, but way more people died from smallpox than did from getting the vaccine. So if you don’t get it for yourself, get it for your friends and neighbors.
