Letters to the Editor

Letter: Budget story critique

You guys at the ADN are a real asset to the community. Thank you so much for keeping us informed about everything that goes on in Alaska. I rely on and enjoy reading the ADN.

However, I suggest you take another look at the budget story that appeared on the front page May 11. It was singularly uninformative about the key elements of the budget. It traded on the lurid issues of abortion funding and bickering among legislators, while doing nothing to explain the actual amounts of spending, revenue, uses of federal aid and the Permanent Fund draws and dividends.

Instead of the useless picture of legislators at their desks, put in a table that shows the budget amounts. That would inform Alaskans, not just drive angst and division.

Thanks for listening and keep up the good work.
