Letter: A civilized society has rules

A civilized society has rules

The next time you encounter an anti-mask, anti-vaxxer, ask them these questions, if they have the capacity to listen to this many inquiries:

Do you have a mandated driver’s license?

Do you wear a mandated seat belt when driving your car?

Do you protect your children with mandated car seats?

Do you text while driving, which is against the law?

Do you consume two six-packs of beer before driving?

Do you obey traffic regulations?

Do you smoke in non-smoking areas?

Do you discharge firearms in your neighborhood?

Does your family doctor wear a mask and has he or she received the vaccine?

If a modern-day dictator came on the scene today and began taking over countries as Adolf Hitler did in in World War II, I doubt many Americans could rally the way we did back then. People today not only mistrust government entities such as the Centers for Disease Control, but lack the spine and self-discipline to make sacrifices to attack a mortal enemy like COVID-19 that is every bit as real and threatening as a maniacal dictator.
