Letter: Just put your kids’ masks on

Imagine that! The School Board folks in the Mat-Su Borough have, somehow, elected to send their children to school without masks. All in the name of “returning to normal.” That’s not the same as as a violation of anybody’s “rights,” this is one even more ridiculously better.

I am a tad older than 80 years; I have lived in Alaska since 1949, and remember lining up in grade school, under the supervision of a public health nurse, to get my shots. No letter to Ma asking permission, (same with a paddling, ouch — I remember!). No debate, they just did it without every “official” or liberal parent in the country getting involved.

I don’t know how many infectious diseases I survived because the mandatory plan was to save young people, rather than debate a ridiculous issue to death. Hey, I never got polio, although I knew some who did and paid with it for life. Many folks today are too smart for their own good - or for the good of their families. Put your kids’ masks on, for Christ’s sake.
