Letters to the Editor

Letter: Navigating the holidays

Holidays can be rough to navigate when grieving the loss of someone close to you. Finding comfort and support as you walk through these holidays can help ease that pain. For that reason, I want to thank all the hospice programs in Anchorage for collaborating on “Navigating the Holidays” this year. This annual event is usually an evening of speakers, snacks and comforting activities — impossible to do right now. Instead, thanks to their generosity to our community, the event will go ahead — through a takeout-style kit.

The free “Navigating the Holidays” box includes a video presentation by local Alaskans about managing the holidays, along with a few “goodies” to provide comfort and encourage self-care. The event will run through Jan. 1, 2022.

Thanks again to Ancora, Encompass and Providence hospices. And special thanks to Hospice of Anchorage for assembling the boxes and coordinating distribution — a true labor of love.
