Letter: Don’t screw up our state

Now Mayor Dave Bronson proposes having the city clerk, who oversees elections, be changed to an elected position. Just say no. Those who run the library, the water system, the schools, the Alaska State Troopers, the police, the public health system, the judiciary, the Permanent Fund board and the elections in this state need to be — and are or have until recently been — filled by well-trained, qualified and dedicated civil servants who believe in the mission of serving the public. Alarmingly, Mayor Bronson, Gov. Mike Dunleavy and Alaska’s GOP leadership seem to be intent on screwing up all of these.

Quit voting for Republicans until they understand that Alaska needs to move forward, not backward.
