Letter: More on Floyd Kaleak

Floyd Kaleak wasn’t just a local guy who made us smile. When friends from England visited some years ago, they’d done their tourist research and asked if was true that there was a fellow on the street corner who waved to people.

Before my friend finished her sentence, I knew who she was referring to and said, “Yes, that’s Floyd.”

Floyd lives on not only in our memories, as the ADN article about him Jan. 3 noted, he is featured in the first edition of the Alaska Outlaws, Rebels and Cons playing cards, along with the parking fairies, Sarah Palin, Soapy Smith, Wally Hickel, Joe Hazelwood, the Eagle Lady and many of our infamous political figures.

Keep smiling on us, Floyd. Lord knows we sure can use that now.
