Letter: The candidates we can trust

Kudos to Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Rep. Don Young. As Elise Patkotak admirably described her feelings about Mr. Young, those that parallel mine, he showed us something that was honorable and worth respect.

My first contact with Young was at the airport in Fort Yukon when he was a state legislator. He was a former teacher, as is our current governor.

Unlike Ms. Patkotak, I am unwilling to forgive his sins for such a small statement that he knows will not play bad for the party that keeps him in Washington, D.C. Sadly, Alaska’s junior senator has been quieter on the issue. Does he condone what the Republican National Committee is doing? Perhaps. Does he need the RNC money to keep his job? Perhaps.

The Alaska Republican Party supports Kelly Tshibaka as a person Alaskans can trust. What I think of this is not appropriate for polite discussion. Once again, I will proudly vote for Murkowski and, by doing so, tell the Alaska Republican Party what I think of them. I will also vote for former Gov. Bill Walker. If you dislike being led as sheep for the slaughter, you might think for yourself instead of letting others tell you what to think.
