Letter: Help us out in South Addition

Our little corner of Anchorage needs you, so let this be a call to our broader community: Please vote yes on replacing Inlet View Elementary, South Addition’s neighborhood school. As an alumna and parent, I can tell you the facility is almost identical to when I attended it three decades ago, and is long past unsafe and substandard. It is one of the oldest facilities in the district, and yet the only International Baccalaureate Elementary School in the state. The quality of our school is completely incongruent with its facility, and this is harming our kids.

We have worked hard to come up with a design that carefully considers the needs of both our school and surrounding community, and we are almost to the finish line. This project has been put off for years, and it is past time. Our neighborhood schools are the heart of our community, and deserve to be at least up to standard. Help us break ground this May, and make good use of all the planning and investment already made. Please vote yes for the generations of Inlet View Orcas to come!
